Ain’t no one got time for that.
This chilly weather has me craving stouts. My perfect evening is curled up on the couch with a blanket and a damn good stout.
I’m pretty picky when it comes to stouts. Stouts should pour like motor oil and have a thick creamy mocha colored head that sticks around. I want that stout to have such a hefty mouthfeel that I’m basically chewing it.
One evening when I found myself ready for a beer and the couch, I remembered that I just purchased Great Divide’s Oatmeal Yeti. I decided to go with that and it made my evening that much better.
Normally oatmeal stouts don’t do it for me. Most of them come across a little thin and some have an odd aftertaste that I find to be unpleasant.
Oatmeal Yeti surprised me. It was thick and rich with a nice toasted nuttiness. No weird aftertaste on the finish. It met everything on my checklist.
Thick pour: Check!
Mocha colored head: Check!
Hefty mouthfeel: Check!
In fact I couldn’t shutup about it and kept telling my husband how much I enjoyed this beer while we were watching TV.
Oatmeal Yeti is an enjoyable smooth stout perfect for the chilly evenings that we’ve seen this week. Because of that, it makes this week’s beer of the week!
